A group of ten convicted of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A circulating false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
