Arsenal's goalkeeper Praises Squad Depth as Key to Silverware Pursuit

David Raya has stated that fierce rivalry for first-team spots is driving Arsenal's impressive performance, with the goalkeeper asserting that the team's roster under Mikel Arteta is so extraordinary that they can challenge for various titles this season.

Dominant Victories Highlight The Gunners' Prowess

The North London club's recent comprehensive win over Atlético Madrid represented their sixth straight victory and 10th success in a dozen games. With only three goals conceded—a record low at this point in the team's legacy—they have secured a one-point lead at the top of the table and a perfect record in the Champions League after three outings.

Rotation and Depth Key to Achievements

The goalkeeper has featured in nearly every game, aside from one domestic cup encounter, but the manager has consistently rotated the team following significant summer investment on new signings. When asked about competing for multiple trophies, Raya responded, "Absolutely, I think so. Our squad strength is incredible. We have numerous options who can perform in multiple roles."

For instance, against Atlético, a teammate was introduced as a forward and is capable of playing as a central midfielder or No 10. That versatility is what the boss has, and it's being utilized to benefit the team. It's looking very, very good, and this roster strength is crucial for us.

Competition Drives Performance

Raya added, "This situation gives you an extra level in training and games because if you're not at it, your place is at risk in a fraction of a second. That fosters intense rivalry in training and during matches, which is vitally significant, and everyone is on board."

Strong Defense a Collective Effort

The team have let in just a single goal from open play this season, and the keeper has faced only one shot on target in their recent victories against Atlético, Fulham, and West Ham.

"It's a collective effort from the forwards to the goalkeeper," he said. "Everyone is focused, no one wants to concede, and we aim to intercept passes before it reaches the halfway line. If we intercept, we can launch a quick counter. It's crucial for the entire team to understand this mentality, and opponents aren't creating numerous opportunities, which is perfect."
