In excess of 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan territory eastern part of Darfur starting Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration agency.

The key central region connecting the country's Darfur areas and the capital region has during recent weeks become the newest conflict zone in the extended civil war between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary forces.

Massive Displacement Numbers

An approximated 36,825 people fled five areas in North Kordofan province between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The individuals, primarily walking, headed to Tawila, a town western side of El Fasher that is currently housing over 652,000 evacuated individuals.

Heightened Forces Deployment

Residents of North Kordofan on Monday described a heavy surge in both RSF and army presence across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both forces are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a key logistics and command center that links Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have assembled at the Bara front here," said an RSF member in a recently distributed video declaration.

Regional Inhabitants Describe Safety Fears

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the amount of RSF vehicles had increased considerably since the group's capture of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, fearing fighting," the individual explained.

Another resident, who requested anonymity for protection purposes, also confirmed that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the past two weeks.

World Concerns and Calls

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "widespread abuses" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The representative warned of patterns echoing those in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The spiritual head on Sunday called for an prompt truce and the establishment of aid passageways in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of committing war crimes in El Fasher and declared that the Sudanese government would not discuss with the armed faction.

The diplomat further urged the international community to categorize the group as a terrorist entity.
