British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed its support for the star in the following the devastating accident.
