England v the Chinese team – Female Exhibition Match

Introduction

Welcome everyone to the friendly match between England and China at Wembley Stadium. An exciting encounter is anticipated with the European Championship holders competing against the holders of the Asian Cup title.

England’s national stadium is packed for the match, which will see Fran Kirby celebrated pre-match after her retirement from the national team before the Euros this past summer.

Lineup details will be shared imminently, but there was a recent squad update for England. On Friday, the goalkeeper Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a slight knock, and so previous starter Ellie Roebuck has been added to the squad.

With Hannah Hampton out of action, it will be interesting to see who head coach Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. That news and all the other updates are on the way before the start of the match at 5.30pm GMT.

Lineup Announcements

Squad details are now available. Anna Moorhouse will be the goalkeeper for England in the non-presence of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.

England: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.

Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.

We are awaiting the squad from China now; as soon as I have it, I will post it.

Leadership Role

Keira Walsh is captaining the Lionesses with Leah Williamson still unfit. These were her comments before this encounter:

First Cap News

This evening’s match will be Anna Moorhouse's debut for England. She was a part of the Euros team who claimed victory this past summer, but she did not play any minutes with Hannah Hampton in the starting goalkeeper role.
