Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to support public safety in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to halt asylum applications and halt granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
