Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12 Million Heist on Gold Refining Lab in France

A group of six individuals equipped with high-powered firearms employed explosives to break into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the most recent prominent broad daylight robbery to hit France.

The bold operation occurred on Thursday late morning, with officers quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and retrieving the loot estimated to be worth 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of Laboratoires Pourquery sustained minor injuries from the blast, and three individuals were taken to a medical facility for assessment, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, thought to be experienced criminals, were detained a brief time later in the neighboring community of the town of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A female accomplice who took part in the heist was also apprehended, a police source indicated.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an assault targeting a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” the French interior minister stated online, commending law enforcement for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The robbery occurred as French police on Thursday arrested five more suspects, among them a key figure, in relation to the recent audacious Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been searching for four perpetrators who utilized a lorry with a hydraulic lift and cutting gear to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, making off with precious items estimated to be worth €88M.

In a separate high-profile case, burglars recently broke into the Natural History Museum in Paris, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was taken into custody recently in the city of Barcelona in connection with the break-in, officials confirmed.

The string of thefts has sparked worry in France regarding lax security at museums and other institutions housing valuable items.
